Why God Doesn’t Want Us to Worry? (Part 1)

As I was walking in a mall, I saw a shirt displayed in a bible bookstore with this quote, “Pray for everything, worry for nothing.” The quote is very relevant to many Christians, isn’t it? I believe many are reminded everytime they will pass by that bookstore.

Being a Christian means surrendering one’s life to the kingship of Jesus Christ and it means trusting God as a loving father, and a dependable and able sustainer of life. Why not? If He is able to create this world out of nothing and if He owns everything, nothing is definitely impossible with Him. If His intention in creating us is to love us, aside from giving Him glory, then providing for our needs and helping us in times of trouble is absolutely one of His priorities. God certainly wants us to completely depend on Him and enjoy our lives. He doesn’t want us to worry because when we do worry, there are many unpleasant things that can come along our faith journey. I can share four of these things and I will try to share it one per day.

The first one is when we worry, we go away from God. Always remember that what makes us anxious keeps us away from God. When we worry, our attention is shifting from God to resolving the cause of our anxiety. We think of it a lot to the point of not thinking about what God can do. God is our loving Father and He is all powerful. Getting away from Him is a wrong decision because we are disconnecting ourselves from the very source of life…from the one who can solve our issue. The Bible says,

“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you” (1 Pet. 5:7).

Also, the prophet Jeremiah once uttered,

“Ah, Sovereign Lord , you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you” (Jeremiah 32:17 NIV).

These two verses are enough assurances whenever we encounter problem or difficulty in life. God cares and He is able.

Remember, “Pray for everything, worry for nothing.” Have a worry-free life.
